Do you accept OON?

("out of network")

Short answer: I don't do OON because I choose to work for you, not for an insurance company.

Out of network is an arrangement where I provide you with a specifically-formatted receipt and you submit for reimbursement directly to your insurance company instead of my biller handling the billing for you.

I do not do this because this places me under a similar set of obligations to your insurance company that I was seeking to get out of when I stopped accepting insurance (for couples, that is -- I'll just bill your insurance company directly if you are seeing me for individual counseling). Be aware that when you agree to see me for counseling on a cash-pay basis, even if you ask me to submit receipts to you as proof that you paid, the receipts I send you will not meet insurance company requirements for you to receive reimbursement.
